The drink came to be known as "La Fe Verte" or "The Green Fairy" and is banned in many parts of the world, but here in Brno it is still widely available in the bars and clubs.
Absinthe, the drink made famous by the likes of Vincent Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, Oscar Wilde and those who were inspired by the arts and Bohemian lifestyle. The Green Fairy was so named because of its pale or emerald green coloring and the romantic associations with the drink still linger in popular culture.
Absinthe is a strong-herbal liquor distilled with wormwood and anise. It can contain other aromatic herbs like star anise, anise seed, fennel, licorice, hyssop, veronica, lemon balm, angelica root, dittany, coriander, juniper, and nutmeg.
