So what can a group of lads expect to get up to on a stag weekend Reading……? Sport has got to feature on the to-do list. Reading has plenty to offer right on its doorstep from golf, football, horse racing and much more.

Set in the picturesque Thames Valley golf is inevitable in this kind of landscape and Reading doesn’t disappoint. With over 10 courses in and around Reading there is every chance to play a round during your Reading stag weekend!

The two rivers flowing through Reading has allowed for an explosion of riverside restaurants and café bars – extremely important on your stag party Reading, a chance to chill out and watch the world go by. But hey, don’t sit about for too long there’s still loads to do – let us explain.

Why not head to the Madejski Stadium to check out the home of Reading Football Club. Originally named the “Biscuitmen” after the largest employer in Reading they changed to Reading FC and “The Royals” in the 1970’s. Interestingly the fanzine is called “Hob Nob Anyone?” The stadium has hosted such concerts as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Girls Aloud and Rachel Stevens to name a few.

London Irish also call the Madejski home, so if you prefer the game played with odd shaped balls, check out their fixture list.

For more of an action day out why not have a boys day at the races. Prestigious courses Royal Ascot and Newbury are not far away so why not have a flutter. You never know you might bump into some top totty on your stag weekend in Reading so don’t forget your top hats!!!. If you time your weekend perfectly you could be smoozing with the rich and famous on the banks of the Thames and watching the Henley Regatta float by.

How about going to watch an Aussie Rules Footy match?? Invented in 1858, to keep Aussie cricketers fit out of season, Aussie Rules is a mix of rugby and Gaelic football. The Reading Kangaroos were formed in 2001 and regularly have matches at their home ground in Reading. Well worth a look, these players are awesome, be warned you may be tired just watching!!!

If it’s chill out time you guys need on your stag weekend Reading then look no further than Forbury Gardens, recovery time from the hangover is what we’re thinking. Reading Borough Council was awarded £2.13 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the historical features of the Gardens which include the impressive Maiw and Lion, the ornamental fountain and specialist conservation of the Abbey Ruins.

If you are a culture vulture then check out Reading Town Hall for all you need to know about the history of Reading from Anglo Saxon times to the present day. The Museum has a Victorian copy of the Bayeux Tapestry and a refurbished Victorian Art Gallery, surely that’s enough to satisfy the culture bug!

Or how about a drop of the chilled stuff on your stag party Reading? Yes now we’re talking! Stanlake Park Wine Estate situated in Great Windsor Park has a rich and fascinating history. Today it is one of the U.K’s most successful producers. It isn’t far from Reading (about 20 minutes by car) and a tour of the winery and a tasting session is a great way to spend a few hours. They have free wine tasting every weekend and if you time your trip right you can even watch the grapes being pressed. Don’t worry lads this doesn’t mean you have to get in and tread the grapes yourself!!

Or if beer drinking is your thing (and we guess it probably is!!) why not head to the Café du Sport centrally located at St.Mary’s Butts. It’s a contemporary sports bar offering great promotions on drinks, large plasma screens to watch live sport and with food on offer you may just want to stay all day!!! In the evening the resident DJs turn up the volume and delivers everything from Classic Soul to Funky House.

So as you can see there is loads on offer for your stag night Reading. We’ve done the hard graft for you, so now it’s your job to sit back and select what you’d like us, at FREEDOM, to arrange for you.
