royal charter in 1155 and was granted county status in 1373. For half a millennium it was the second or third largest English city.
Much of Bristol’s prosperity was built on its port, which has now moved further out to the Severn Estuary coast to the west of the city. The harbour side and docks were then regenerated into the hub of heritage and culture that they are today. The perfect spot for your Bristol stag weekend!
Why not take a walk over
The Clifton Suspension Bridge the famous landmark used as a symbol of Bristol. It spans the Avon Gorge linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. It has fantastic views, so why not take a drink on the terrace of the Avon Gorge hotel as the sunsets and the bridge lights up.
