Reading Shopping

Shopping has got to feature on the to-do list. Reading is one of the UK’s top ten retail destinations and a shopper’s paradise.

It has two impressive shopping centres to its name “The Oracle” and “Broad Street Mall”. The Oracle is home to fashion houses such as Hobbs, Coast and Karen Millen while Broad Street Mall has more traditional high street stores. Centrally located there is a John Lewis store known locally as “Heelas”.

The two rivers flowing through Reading has allowed for an explosion of riverside restaurants and café bars – extremely important on your hen party Reading, a chance to chill out and watch the world go by. But hey, don’t sit about for too long there’s still loads to do – let us explain.

Reading Culture

If you are a culture vulture then check out Reading Town Hall for all you need to know about the history of Reading from Anglo Saxon times to the present day. The Museum has a Victorian copy of the Bayeux Tapestry and a refurbished Victorian Art Gallery.

Reading Borough Council was awarded £2.13 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore the historical features of the Gardens which include the impressive Maiwand Lion, the ornamental fountain and specialist conservation of the Abbey Ruins.
