Cardiff Shopping

It would be so remiss of us, in fact downright neglectful, to not feature shopping right up there. Ooh get those credit cards out, polished and ready for use.

Amongst the city’s network of Victorian and Edwardian arcades you’ll find designer brands, all the major chains and dozens of independent shops and boutiques.

Head to the pedestrianised area of Queen Street for the main shopping thoroughfare, at one end is the Capitol Shopping centre home to designer brands such as Benetton and Karen Millen.

If the weather is not kind it’s probably advisable to do some of your shopping in the St. David’s Shopping Centre. On offer are over 60 leading stores and all the familiar names like Debenhams, M and S and Boots.

Amongst the numerous arcades you can hunt out unique stores and cafes and also a few Welsh gifts to take home with you.

Please be assured that when the feet get weary and hunger strikes Cardiff has numerous modern cafes to suit all your needs and provide a little restful interlude.

Cardiff Tourist

Once you and the girls are feeling refreshed you may want to explore what else Cardiff has to offer. In terms of getting a good view and the low down an Open-Top Bus tour gives you it all with a live guide or taped commentary. The Buses operate tours of the city centre and also the bay area.

For you hen night Cardiff girls the bay area, just a mile from the city centre, is definitely a must. The old Cardiff docklands got a facelift and have been transformed to create Cardiff Bay and now home to a large freshwater lake for sailing and watersports.

At the Mermaid Quay as well as restaurants, bars and shops you could take to the water and enjoy a boat tour and Cardiff Waterbus have cleverly introduced a new taxi service that operates throughout the year from the Bay to the city centre.

Whilst down in the Bay area take a little time to visit the Wales Millennium Centre, pop along to the Doctor Who Exhibition and visit the Norwegian Church – famous because Roald Dahl was christened here, today its been converted into a café and art gallery.

The Millennium Centre is for those in search of a little culture on their hen nights in Cardiff, it presents international opera, ballet, modern dance and musicals.

The Doctor Who Exhibition is housed in the Red Dragon Centre, in the heart of the Bay. You are invited to get up close to a dalek and see other monsters, costumes and props from the recent series that was filmed here. All under one roof is a complete leisure experience, from cinema, bowling and a casino you can certainly while a few hours away.

Cardiff Millennium Stadium
