The history of Brighton is that of an ancient fishing village which became known as a health resort in the 18th century and grew into one of the largest towns in England by the 20th Century.
In 1841 the arrival of the railway brought this location within the reach of the London day-trippers and the population grew from about 7,000 in 1801 to 120,000 in 1901. So history suggests that Brighton has very good experience of entertaining visitors that want to have a good time!
In 1997, Brighton merged, administratively, with the nearby town of Hove, the overall population of the area is now just under 250,000.
Hove is immediately west of Brighton and is known as it’s smaller more relaxed neighbour. With it’s regency splendour the seafront takes on a leisurely feel with the beach huts and seafront lawns. Why not take a wander up one of the wide Victorian avenues and stop off for a breather along the ‘strip’ – a mile of great cafes and restaurants perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine, latte, or light lunch!
With so many different areas of Brighton and Hove to explore you are going to need more than a weekend to search out all the delights of such a wonderfully diverse city. Yes you and the girls are assured of a top destination, proud of what it has to offer and welcoming to visitors.
