Let’s talk a little bit about Brighton Beach Life! The seafront is always a buzz of activity and even more so in the summer. In 2002 Brighton beach hosted the famous Brighton Beach Boutique II headlined by Brighton’s own resident Fatboy Slim aka Norman Cook. They were only expecting 60,000 people to attend the free event on the beach, but over 250,000 people hit the beach and promenade. The event was truly spectacular and people came from far and wide to party on the beach with Fatboy Slim!

There is more to the beach than that though! Brighton beach is a haven for the young and the beautiful strutting their stuff in the sunshine. This includes showing their skills on the beach volleyball court!

In 1996 Beach Volleyball became an Olympic event and since then it has become more and more popular for lads and ladies alike! Brighton’s Yellowave beach sport centre has six beach volleyball courts and hosts a number of competitions. Beach volleyball was developed on the beaches of Brazil and California. Playing on sand allows for dynamic moves and exciting dives, which are harder to play in the indoor game.

Most players play barefoot. Beach volleyball has been criticized for the revealing uniforms, primarily the bikinis worn by the female competitors. Some beach volleyball competitions, including the Olympics, have rules restricting the maximum size of uniforms! But never fear ladies there is still plenty of muscle on show.

Other sports that are played on the beach in Brighton include Beach Soccer, Beach Rugby, Foot Volley, Beach Handball, Ultimate Frisbee and Beachminton! So ladies, spare a moment in your hen weekend Brighton to go and watch the lads showing their sporting prowess!

We explained how much fun can be had on the beach, this really is what Brighton is all about, so without wanting to preach we thought it appropriate to remind you of ‘safety in the sun’: -

The sun is at its hottest between 11am and 3pm
Use a good, strong sunscreen, recommended at least an SPF of 15
Apply liberally all day.
Wear a hat, sunglasses and lip balm. (Hats and shades are such a fashion accessory, this should not prove too difficult).
Drink lots – oh ladies you know we mean water.
